The Great Skin Hunt

I have been searching Second Life like a mad person looking for a new skin. It is not easy to find a dark skin tone. I am a sharp critic of designers who suggest that, economically speaking, creating a dark skin is just a waste of time.

If you are a designer, the challenge is more important than the Lindens, yes? Oh well, maybe that's just me. I rather like the challenge of making something (but I build, I have yet to delve into clothing...much..) more than what Lindens will come in. This is seen when asked to make something. I hardly ever seem to make Lindens, but, the satisfaction of having compliments and seeing my work is enough for me.

I'm digressing..

A friend of mine, from a club I frequented before it shut down (and worked at too), named Maxwell Lundquist, introduced me to Nomine once upon a time. It was, perhaps, a month after coming into Second Life. I had a newbie skin on. The darkest part I could put the skin on manually, was, well, ugly. It made me think if burnt popcorn! So I settled for a soft caramel while I pondered how many pay days it would take to get a good skin.

Maxwell brought me to Nomine when I was prepared to purchase, and I fell in love with the Russet color! It was dark, sensual, and just what I was looking for.

2008 has come and gone, and I was thinking for 2009 a new skin would be nice. There are new skins all the time, after all, and finding a skin darker or equally dark shouldn't be a problem, right?

Wrong.

I have, so far, compared over 15 skin locations, with quality skins - and the dark skins..well, aren't.

Designers, black is not one caramel color. You may believe that the varied caramel colors you are bringing is dark enough, but it really isn't. Black comes in so many more shades!!

The skins are beautiful, of course, but they are not dark enough for me.

Even Nomine's new skins are not dark as the Russet, but I still adore the skin I have even more because of it's rarity!

If anyone reads this other than my normal friends please leave names of places who may have a dark skin I might be interested in! I have been to many locations, but I will take store names if you have ideas!

Now, I need to go back to Nomine tonight....I need to shop again for some items, and not just make up. Ahem.
